Project Description

MPEDH-RWANDA is a non-governmental not-for -profit  organization that has been conducting training and awareness on human rights in Rwamangana district in Eastern Province of the Republic of Rwanda since 2006. In 2013 the Akiba Uhaki Foundation funded the ‘Promoting Human Rights Education for local development through community dialogue’ project, that was implemented by MPEDH.The goal of the project was to strengthen citizen participation in local governance.

The project included a look and learn visit to Bunge La Mwananchi a grantee of the Akiba Uhaki Foundation who previously implemented a similar project successfully. The other project objectives included,  improving the culture of dialogue between citizens and local authorities as well as encouraging local authorities to the transparency in public services delivery.
