KEJUDE was launched in August 2008, to give Kenyans a platform to actively exercise democracy. On December 10, 2008, 17 Kenyans under KEJUDE filed an extraordinary public interest lawsuit at the Nairobi High Court questioning the constitutionality of the Parliamentary Service Commission (PSC) and its operations which were increasingly becoming a subject of great concern and worry to taxpayers and the general Kenyan public.
